On a linearisation method for Reiner-Rivlin swirling flow

چکیده
The steady flow of a Reiner-Rivlin fluid with Joule heating and viscous dissipation is studied. We present a novel technique for accelerating the convergence of the spectral-homotopy analysis method. Solutions of the nonlinear momentum and energy equations are obtained using the improved spectral homotopy analysis method. Solutions were also generated using the spectral-homotopy analysis method and benchmarked against results in the literature. Suction/Injection Effects on the Swirling Flow of a Reiner-Rivlin Fluid near a Rough Surface
The similarity equations for the Bödewadt flow of a non-Newtonian Reiner-Rivlin fluid, subject to uniform suction/injection, are solved numerically. The conventional no-slip boundary conditions are replaced by corresponding partial slip boundary conditions, owing to the roughness of the infinite stationary disk. The combined effects of surface slip (λ), suction/injection velocity (W), and cross-...
متن کاملA model for spiral flows in basal ice and the formation of subglacial flutes based on a Reiner-Rivlin rheology for glacial ice
Flutes are elongated sediment ridges formed at the base of glaciers and ice sheets. In this paper, we show that flutes can be the product of a corkscrew-like spiral flow in basal ice that removes sediment from troughs between flutes and deposits it at their crests, as first suggested by Shaw and Freschauf. In order to generate the type of basal ice flow required for this mechanism, the viscous ...
متن کاملInfluence of Thermal Radiation Models on Prediction of Reactive Swirling Methane/Air Flame in a Model Gas Turbine Combustor
A numerical simulation of reactive swirling methane/air non-premixed flame in a new three-dimensional model combustion chamber is carried out to assess the performance of two thermal radiation models, namely, the Discrete Transfer Radiation Model and the P-1 Model. A Finite Volume staggered grid approach is employed to solve the governing equations. The second-order upwind scheme is applied for...
متن کاملInvestigation of Swirling and Tumbling Flow Pattern of Spark Ignition Engine
Gas motion within the cylinder is one of the major factors that control the combustion process in spark ignition engine. It also has significant impact on heat transfer. Both the bulk gas motion and the turbulence characteristics of the flow are important and governing the overall behavior of the flow. An arrangement for obtaining a stratified charge, using port injection, is proposed for a ...

The paper shows the successive steps of approximation of Picard unification for the solution of the non-isothermal fluid flow in thin layer including inertia forces and apparent viscosities described by the non-linear dependences. In this paper is presented a unified semi analytical method of solution of the asymmetrical, laminar, steady and unsteady, non-Newtonian lubrication problem flow betw...
